Style and durability. These are two main considerations when choosing furniture panels. Oh, and let’s not forget about price.

On April 28, at our Mt Wellington branch, tradies and VIPs (including several ex-All Blacks) got to see first-hand a panel product that we reckon will be a game-changer in our industry. That product is GlossMax.

What is GlossMax used for?

GlossMax panels are tough and stylish so, they are ideal for furniture that must look great and also take a hammering—cabinets in busy kitchens and steamy bathrooms, for example. They are also impervious to UV light.  Basically, GlossMax is a superior alternative to old-style lacquered thermofoil and high-gloss painted panels.

Durability

As already mentioned, these panels are tough — highly resistant to scratches, moisture and UV light.

They are a product of unique European technology and design.  GlossMax panels are produced by applying PUR adhesive to melamine-coated MDF or particle board.  The PUR is then hardened with UV rays, resulting in a mirror-like gloss that is more resistant to scratches, moisture, UV light and corrosion than anything else in the New Zealand market.  Matching 1mm hi-gloss tape is applied to the edges with PU glue adding to its water and heat resistance.

Because GlossMax panels are resistant to UV light, colours don’t fade over time, unlike old-style lacquered thermofoil panels.

Style

GlossMax panels look fantastic. They are available in a wide range of colours, including black, red and caramel galaxy, right through to natural wood grains. And the mirror-like gloss further enhances the colours and patterns.  Take a look at the image gallery here

Price

In this business, price is always a consideration - and GlossMax certainly doesn’t disappoint. Thanks to this modern technology, they are about half the price of lacquered thermofoil panels. They are also available in large 2100 x 2800mm sheets, which allows for optimal ‘nesting’ (maximised usage of pieces on a single sheet) with minimal wastage when making a piece of furniture,  thus reducing production costs.

GlossMax is currently only available through CutShop.  If you’d like to take a closer look at these high gloss panels — visit our Mt Wellington or Albany branch to see the difference for yourself, or contact us for a sample box.
