Floor beds for kids

Whether you've seen them on social media, or heard about them through a friend, floor beds for kids are taking off in a big way.

A floor bed is as simple as it sounds - a mattress, placed on a frame that sits at ground-level. It's not a new invention, in fact, floor beds have been used for centuries by families all over the world.

They’re preferred by parents wanting to practice the Montessori method of education in their homes, as floor beds are said to be excellent ways to foster independence while allowing children to take ownership of their own environment.

They're also a popular sleeping option for parents of toddlers who are starting the transition from cot to bed, and worry about them rolling out while they're still little.

Unfortunately, these beds don't come cheap, but the good news is that floor beds are a relatively easy DIY project!

This floor bed was made using using basic two-by-fours and some wood dowels. Or, if you're wanting something more bespoke, check out this floor bed with reading nook attached!

The process is easy - send us images, or your measurements (if you have a firm idea of what you're wanting), and we'll take it from there. We even drill the holes for you, so all you'll need to do is put it together. We’re a friendly bunch, here to help you with any questions you have along the way.
