5 tips for quality cabinetry

No one designs a kitchen for it to only last a couple of years, in fact, most kitchen remodels are intended to have a lifespan of at least 20 to 30 years and so investing in good quality kitchen cabinets is essential.

Although it may seem expensive to begin with, using top quality materials whenever possible combined with excellent workmanship can save you money in the long run with lower maintenance and replacement costs that can be associated with some more budget-friendly materials.

So how do you get the best for your buck and make sure your kitchen lasts the distance.

More than likely the quality of your cabinets will be determined by the budget for your project.

There is a huge array of options available for all budgets but to minimise the potential for higher maintenance costs we have come up with 5 tips to ensure quality kitchen cabinetry at the best cost.

1. Do your research

Whether you are designing your kitchen yourself or utilising the knowledge of a kitchen designer, do a bit of independent research and find out the material that is best suited for your needs and why. The more knowledge you have the more likely you are to create a kitchen or bathroom that lasts.

2. Veneer or not veneer?

There are a plethora of coverings available for all your cabinet needs. From Laminate to Wood Veneer, make sure you spend the time to work out which is the best for your space taking into consideration things like potential water damage and the areas of high usage.

3. Mix and match

Mix and match cabinetry materials to meet your budget without compromising on quality. If you love the look of hardwood but a full hardwood cabinet is out of your budget, play around with the materials for the inside box and select a wood veneer for the door. Don’t be afraid to shop around for materials.

4. Plan in the little extra

High-end Cabinetry also comes complete with top-notch fixtures and fittings. Plan in the little extras that make your life easier, from lazy susans in the pantry to corner drawers. Install a pull-out pantry or a gadget garage. These ideas may seem luxurious but they don’t need to break the bank and can improve your use of your kitchen

5. Ask plenty of questions

No matter how much the budget for your project your expectation for quality workmanship should never waver. If you have a question regarding anything to do with your cabinetry make sure you are satisfied with the answer before you go ahead.

At Cutshop® we pride ourselves on the knowledge our staff have and their constant commitment to providing the best service for every project they work on. This standard is something we would never compromise on and neither should you.
