PEOPLE ARRIVE WITH IDEAS, AND LEAVE WITH BIGGER ONES
Cutshop Mount Wellington has built a strong business around four key team members who each bring different but complementary skills to serve the kitchen and shopfitting trade, and designers of bespoke products since 2009.
Simon co-founded the business following a home renovation when he found it difficult to find cutting suppliers. “I spotted an opportunity and established Cutshop to be a “preferred supplier” of ready to assemble cabinetry to the trade, and a “manufacturing partner” to people who have designed a product and want to bring their idea to life.”
Brent is our factory manager who has been at Cutshop almost since the beginning: “I saw the challenge of building a new business from a great idea, and I felt I could really help make the manufacturing process as efficient as possible,” he says. Brent manages the production team who work the CNC, Edge bander and supporting machinery including routers and saws. “With all the latest technology in the factory, you don’t need a big staff but you do need key people with good attention to detail and strong customer service - and having two top quality programmers certainly makes our job a lot easier,” he says.
Karl Ross and Shane Chapman
Programmers Karl and Shane provide the link between a customer’s design idea and the factory, using interactive software - an expert process that delivers precision cutting and high quality production.
Karl manages programming for kitchen manufacturing, Cutshop’s largest product sector. “We don’t design at Cutshop but we have a lot of cabinet making and joinery experience so we can help improve concepts if needed - we really are a factory in our customers’ back pockets as they can design anything and we can make it, meaning they don’t need machines themselves.”
Programming outside the kitchen space is Shane’s job. “The variety of what we do here is incredible, from a decorative wall panel to a new surfboard – our software is versatile and can help people create and innovate. We can produce the same thing time and time again, or do one-offs. Sometimes, people arrive with ideas and then leave with bigger ideas!”
Cutshop Mount Wellington is located on Pilkington Road, Panmure, in a 800m2 factory.
