The ‘key’ to a successful business

In order to make his mobile locksmith business work, Jason King of King Locksmiths needed to have a highly-compact, functional van that would store all of his keys and tools, but also have the space for him to be able to move around inside while working. Through collaborating with Cutshop, Jason’s vision was realised and, as a result, his start-up company has been a huge success.

Experience with a vision

Having been in the industry for more than 30 years, working inside multiple different vans running the same kinds of businesses, and observing each of their pros and cons, Jason had a vision for his own locksmith business, that would not only cater to clients but also his own way of working. He wanted to create a van interior design that would keep everything ultra-organised, and give him the ability to work comfortably on the road.

After approaching builders to help him get his plans off the ground, but experiencing multiple roadblocks along the way, Jason decided to take the reins himself and find a partner who would enable him to do most of the work himself. With a strong sense of what he needed to achieve, and time and money on his side, market research brought him to Cutshop, and he swiftly jumped on the idea of working with the team.

Compact and concise

Though outside the norm of Dave’s (Cutshop North Shore) usual projects, he had great fun collaborating with Jason and making sure every cut was the perfect fit. Dave was ‘more than accommodating’, working closely with Jason to make sure his van fit-out was not only functional and sleek-looking, but unique to Jason’s vision.

I can’t recommend them highly enough!
— Jason King

One of the most important aspects of the van fit-out was maximising the storage space and getting the most out of the cabinets. The design innovations and clever cutting meant Jason could do just that!

Not only can he neatly contain all of his tools and keys, but he even has space for his stool and can move about freely from countertop to countertop.

When it comes to safety and ensuring the cabinets would stay closed properly on the road, push locks were installed to keep everything in place.

Overall, the project was highly successful and has paid itself off massively over the years. It was a start-up that needed collaboration to work effectively.

The work with Cutshop was the best decision he could have made and he knows he can go back to them any time with advanced ideas.
