Stand out sanitiser stands

With New Zealand’s Covid-19 response Alert Level system, every single workplace is adapting to comply with new health and safety regulations. One of the most obvious and necessary of those is hand cleaning.

Having previously worked with Simon at Cutshop Mt Wellington for safety screens and other projects, Terry Woods at Design Signs and Simon recently collaborated on a project that is slightly more extended than the usual jobs they complete in the sign-making industry - making stands for hand sanitiser bottles (for which Terry would then create individually branded signage for different businesses).

A simple inquiry

So, how did this project come to pass for a business that usually just deals with signage? A distribution company - one of Terry’s clients - spoke with him about needing to get some stands for the workplace on which to place bottles of hand sanitiser for staff.

He wasn’t too happy about the fact that it was going to cost him $350 per unit, which would be made of fabricated steel, and so, put the idea to Terry to see if he knew of a cheaper option.

Cutting costs but maintaining quality

With a need for roughly 600 units to redistribute, you can imagine the expense involved for the client. That’s when Terry thought of Cutshop. After touching base with Simon, it wasn’t long before designs were turned into samples, which were approved and swiftly reproduced.

They were so easy to create that Terry started marketing them to other clients as well. Being flatpack ply, the cost per unit was ⅓ of the cost to manufacture and came to half the price of the units Terry’s client had found elsewhere, which made the whole project a lot easier and more cost-effective.

Putting everything together

In terms of Terry’s handiwork, he stores pre-cut panels for which he creates individually branded signage for unique clients depending on what they need. Once everything is put together, it’s shipped off accordingly and businesses can easily put the stands together on their end.

And, with many workplaces in need of stands for sanitiser, wipes and other hygiene products, it doesn’t seem like the demand will be going down any time soon.

Terry says he was very grateful for the speedy turnaround and ability to mass produce in order to keep some in stock for when new clients need them.

Cutshop is perfect because they get the finished product sorted for you. It’s brought in extra revenue for us too, which is great. It means we’ve been able to sell the products at cost price.
